If you are not a member of eBates yet, this would be a great time of the year to join.  Like most people, I'm sure you do a fair amount of shopping online...especially on Cyber Monday.

eBates provides rebates at hundreds of stores.  Just sign up, find the store listed on their site and it will tell you the amount of the rebate.  Click and you will be directed to your store's website, shop as you normally would, and eBates automatically calculates your rebate.  At the end of each quarter, you will receive your rebate check.

I have been a member for more than a year and I love it!

My Favorite Chili Recipe: Cincinnati Style

Chocolate?  Cinnamon?  Cloves?  Allspice?  Oh yes, this chili has some amazing ingredients!  It really does remind me of the chili served in Ohio at Skyline Chili.  We usually eat the traditional Cincinnati style (over spaghetti noodles with cheese on top) but leftovers are fun because we make chili dogs the following night, and frito pie's after that!

Crockpot Cincinnati Chili

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 can chili beans (I buy Bush's chili beans, but rinse the sauce off in colander)
  • 3 cups water
  • 2 medium onion, finely grated  ( I use 3-4 Tbs chopped, dried minced onion)
  • 2  8-oz cans tomato sauce
  • 5 whole allspice
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin seed
  • 4 cloves garlic (I use bottle minced garlic…bottle gives equivalent of a clove)
  • 4 Tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 Tablespoons vinegar
  • 1 large bay leaf
  • 5 whole cloves
  • 2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ ounce bittersweet chocolate
  • 1 ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Brown ground beef.  I pour in colander and rinse meat to prevent greasiness in chili.  While browning the beef, put remaining ingredients in crockpot.  After rinsing beef, add it to the crockpot and stir until all ingredients are mixed.  Cook on low all day.  (It tastes much better the longer it cooks!).  Serve over spaghetti noodles with shredded cheese on top.  OR, serve over frito’s with cheese for a Frito Pie.
